Design & Analysis

  • Assist with structural analysis and design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and ancillary structures (barrier rails, expansion joints, bearings).

  • Prepare design calculations for gravity loads, live loads, wind, seismic, and thermal effects.

  • Contribute to conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design packages (plans, sections, details).

  • Perform quantity take‑offs and assist in bill of quantities (BOQ) preparation.

  • Support value engineering and alternative studies (e.g., steel vs. concrete options, superstructure types).

Standards, Documentation & QA

  • Apply relevant codes under supervision (e.g., AASHTO LRFD, Eurocodes, BS, DPWH and other local design manuals).

  • Follow company QA/QC procedures, maintain calculation books, and file management standards.

  • Draft technical notes, design reports, and basis‑of‑design summaries.

Digital Delivery & Modeling

  • Develop and update structural models in analysis tools (e.g., MIDAS Civil, STAAD).

  • Produce and revise drawings in CAD/BIM platforms (AutoCAD, Revit).

  • Help maintain model coordination with highways, geotechnical, drainage/hydraulics, and utilities.

Construction Support

  • Assist with shop drawing reviews, RFIs, material submittals, and method statement checks.

  • Participate in site visits and inspections with senior engineers; prepare field notes and photo logs.

  • Track design changes and update as‑built information.

Assessment & Rehabilitation (as applicable)

  • Support condition inspections, load ratings, and life‑cycle assessments for existing bridges.

  • Help prepare repair and retrofit details for structural deficiencies.

Coordination & Communication

  • Attend internal coordination meetings; capture action items and follow through.

  • Communicate clearly with senior engineers, drafters, and other disciplines to resolve interface issues.

  • Prepare concise slides, markups, and summaries for design reviews.

Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred).

  • Licensed/registered Civil Engineer

  • 5+ years of experience in bridge or structural engineering design.

  • Strong proficiency in structural software (e.g., MIDAS, STAAD).

  • Solid understanding of geotechnical principles, materials engineering, and construction methods.

  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and coordination skills.
