Currently, Universal is seeking Financial Analyst candidates for a position based out of our corporate office in Warren, MI. This position will work directly within our Finance Department as a part of our Financial Planning & Analysis Team with exposure to Executive Leadership.

Some responsibilities of this position include:

• Execute all the primary functions of corporate finance - planning, budgeting, advising, analyzing, presenting and supporting corporate objectives set forth by both senior leadership and executives
• Design, prepare and present professional, daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly financial and operational reports and narratives for senior leadership, executives and stakeholders
• Work closely with operations both at the corporate and facility level to identify, measure, and track financial performance and operational KPI’s
• Design, build and utilize complex spreadsheets and models to support the business unit
• Perform ad-hoc financial and operational analysis on an as needed basis
• Investigate and report cost variances and develop strategies to reduce and/or eliminate costs
• Develop mastery of Universal’s chart of accounts for proper coding of expenses to ensure the accuracy of reporting and business intelligence tools

Relevant technological skills:

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Financial reporting and business intelligence software
• Database and file management

Qualified applicants will possess the following:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or similar business-related field
• 1-3 years of financial and accounting analysis experience
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Results driven work ethic with a sense of urgency to hit deadlines
• Ability to work independently and in a group
• Familiarity with transportation and logistics a plus
