Position Summary
The Director of Infrastructure is responsible for leading enterprise infrastructure operations across hybrid environments, including on-premises datacenters, cloud platforms, and enterprise networking. This includes oversight of virtualization platforms, compute and storage systems, backup and disaster recovery, Microsoft 365 services, and WAN/LAN infrastructure. The role manages global teams to ensure a secure, scalable, and highly available technology foundation for core business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Leadership
- Oversee global infrastructure operations including datacenter systems, virtualization, cloud environments, and server/storage platforms.
- Lead infrastructure modernization and lifecycle management across VMware, Nutanix, and hybrid cloud systems (AWS, Azure).
- Ensure high availability and performance for mission-critical platforms across multiple business units.
Enterprise Network
- Manage enterprise network operations including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, switching, routing, wireless infrastructure, and remote connectivity.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity; troubleshoot and resolve systemic connectivity issues.
- Support network segmentation, quality of service (QoS), and secure remote access for users and sites.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure network-level access controls and visibility are maintained.
- Oversee relationships with ISPs and network hardware vendors; manage contracts, SLAs, and renewals.
Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
- Lead enterprise backup and recovery strategy using tools like Veeam and Zerto.
- Conduct regular disaster recovery testing and failover exercises to meet RTO/RPO targets.
- Maintain readiness for audit and compliance reviews related to backup and recovery controls.
Systems & Platform Administration
- Manage Microsoft 365 environments including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
- Oversee Windows Server environments, Active Directory services, DNS, DHCP, and related core infrastructure.
- Ensure systems meet patching, monitoring, and performance standards, and support internal control frameworks.
Team & Vendor Management
- Manage a infrastructure team, including senior engineers and managers.
- Provide technical leadership, performance development, and succession planning.
- Oversee vendor relationships, including contract negotiation, renewals, and SLA enforcement.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering and operations, with 5+ years in leadership roles.
- Expertise in:
- VMware vSphere & vCenter
- Nutanix HCI
- Backup and replication tools (Zerto, Veeam)
- Microsoft 365 services
- Hybrid infrastructure environments (AWS, Azure)
- Enterprise network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, switching, routing)
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: VCP, Nutanix Certified Professional, AWS SysOps Administrator, Microsoft 365 Administrator, CCNA/CCNP.
- Experience with multi-site WAN optimization, network monitoring tools, and remote access strategies.
