About the Job:
The Corporate Accountant - Revenue ensures the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s revenue accounting, with a primary focus on monitoring revenue and accounts receivable, including calculating revenue reserves. This role requires a deep understanding of the healthcare revenue cycle and compliance with relevant accounting standards. This accountant will collaborate with the Company’s operations team, including the billing and collections department, to identify trends, resolve discrepancies and forecast uncollectible accounts to maintain the Company’s financial health. This position reports to the Company’s Assistant Controller.Roles and Responsibilities:
Analyze revenue cycle performance - Monitor key performance indicators, such as accounts receivable aging, denial rates, and collection rates to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
Manage bad debt analysis - Regularly calculate and analyze revenue reserves by using historical data, trends, and specific patient account information.
Reconcile revenue-related accounts - Perform monthly reconciliations of all revenue and accounts receivable-related general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Monitor billing and collections - Work closely with the billing and collections teams to ensure the timely and accurate processing of claims, proper payment posting, and effective follow-up on overdue accounts.
Identify and resolve discrepancies - Investigate and document issues that impact revenue integrity. Conduct root cause analysis to prevent future errors.
Maintain internal controls - Assist in the development and enforcement of accounting policies and procedures related to revenue recognition and related reserves, ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
Support audits - Prepare and provide documentation to support internal and external audits, offering detailed explanations for revenue and reserve calculations.
Prepare financial reports - Generate reports and dashboards for leadership that track revenue and collections performance, analyze reserve trends, and forecast financial outcomes.
Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration - Serve as a financial resource for clinical, billing, and IT departments to address issues and optimize revenue cycle workflows.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field from an accredited college or university
3+ years of relevant work experience; experience in a revenue-focused role within the healthcare industry preferred
CPA, CMA, and/or MBA is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and other data analysis functions
Experience in accounting software and ERP systems is a plus
Experience with business intelligence tools like Power BI is a plus
Solid understanding of US GAAP, specifically ASC 606
Ability to handle financial reporting in a complete, accurate and timely manner
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
High degree of self-motivation, ownership, organization and attention to detail
Ability to work through issues independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments
Ability to multi-task
