This role is responsible for the clinical and forensic oversight of toxicology operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, overseeing quality, driving innovation in testing methodologies and providing laboratory directorship.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. (these duties are the core tasks and responsibilities of the position)

  • Serve as Laboratory Director for toxicology in accordance with CLIA, CAP, CAP-FDT, .
  • Oversee quality control and quality assurance programs, including weekly review and sign- off of screening and LC/MS/MS data (e.g. Levy-Jennings QC, TAT report metrics, validation data, PT investigations, CAP and CAP-FDT audits, policies, competencies, appointments for Certifying Scientist...etc.)
  • Collaborate with Analysts, Technical Specialists Supervisor of Clinical/Forensic Operations and Lab Manager on method development, assay validation, Quality Control and Quality Assurance
  • Provide expert consultation on Forensic and complex toxicology cases, including autopsies, DUI, DUID, employee safety reviews and forensic interpretations when needed. Additionally, as an expert Toxicologist, representation in court is required when necessary.
  • Participate in strategic planning initiatives, including integration efforts with academic and clinical partners

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • MD, DO, or PhD with board certification in Clinical and Forensic Toxicology (e.g., DABFT, DABCC-TC).
  • Demonstrated expertise in LC-MS/MS, GC-FID, sample preparation, automation, and GFAA other advanced toxicology platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, CAP-FDT, SAMSHA, DOT, NYS, ABFT, ISO17025).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a collaborative mindset.
  • Prefer a minimum of 5 years leadership experience in clinical and forensic toxicology.
