Position Summary
Summary
The Community Director (CD) is an integral part of Guilford’s Residential Education mission to create a safe, supportive, and engaged living-learning community that enhances students’ personal and academic success and supports the College’s mission and core values in word and practice. CDs support the curricular experience by engaging students in intentional developmental opportunities outside the classroom, and by cultivating leadership. They are committed to serving as allies, advocates, and resources to students of all backgrounds and to fostering an environment of social support, personal autonomy, and community accountability. Each CD oversees a designated residential community of approximately 250-400 traditional students and a student staff of 10-20 Resident Advisors and 1-2 Assistant Community Directors. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Residential Education and Housing.
The Community Director is a full-time, twelve-month, live-in position. Compensation commensurate upon experience and in adherence with the College’s compensation plan; full benefits; an on-campus furnished staff apartment with most utilities provided; a partial meal plan; access to campus facilities such as the fitness center and library and parking.
Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Residence life, student affairs, advising or first-year programs experience required. Must be available for primary residence to be in an on-campus staff apartment in the residence halls. Must be available to serve through the full academic year. Evening and weekend hours are required. Must be able to walk stairs and conduct rounds through residential areas and buildings. Must be a great team contributor and be able to work autonomously.
