OVERVIEW

Archer Western Construction is currently seeking a Bridge Lift Operator for the Deep Creek Bridge Replacement Project, in Chesapeake, VA.

The Bridge Lift Operator’s primary function is to initiate and oversee the mechanical sequence that raises and lowers the bridge to allow for the passage of marine vessels or to facilitate specific construction phases. They will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of moveable bridge spans (bascule, vertical lift, or swing bridges).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Operate electrical and hydraulic control consoles to engage traffic gates, sirens, and span locks before initiating the lift sequence
• Traffic management: monitor vehicle and pedestrian traffic to ensure the bridge is completely clear before operation
• May perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• May be required to work in adverse weather conditions
• Requires the ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly
• Possess a strong work ethic and desire to learn
• Requires good manual dexterity; may be standing, bending, kneeling or sitting for long periods
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening

La función principal de un Operador de Puente Elevadizo es iniciar y supervisar la secuencia mecánica que eleva y desciende el puente para permitir el paso de embarcaciones marítimas o para facilitar fases específicas de construcción. Será responsable de la operación segura y eficiente de tramos de puentes móviles (puentes basculantes, de elevación vertical o giratorios).

RESPONSABILIDADES

Las responsabilidades incluyen pero no se limitan a:

• Operar consolas de control eléctricas e hidráulicas para activar las barreras de tráfico, sirenas y sistemas de bloqueo del tramo antes de iniciar la secuencia de elevación
• Gestión del tráfico; supervisar el tránsito vehicular y peatonal para garantizar que el puente esté completamente despejado antes de la operación
• Puede realizar otras tareas según se le asignen

CALIFICACIONES

• Debe poder levantar hasta 50 libras
• Puede ser requerido para trabajar en varias condiciones climáticas
• Requiere la capacidad de cumplir con todas las políticas y procedimientos de seguridad
• Comunicarse efectivamente con compañeros de trabajo y supervisores para asegurar que los proyectos se completen adecuadamente
• Poseer una fuerte ética de trabajo y ganas de aprender
• Requiere buena destreza manual; Se requiere estar estar de pie, agachado, arrodillado o sentado durante largos períodos
• Debe poder pasar una prueba de consumo de drogas previa al empleo
