General Purpose:

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in directing the activities of both licensed and non-licensed personnel. In this vital role, you will oversee nursing services for residents on a 24/7 basis, ensuring the highest quality of care is delivered.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Supervision: Assist the DON in planning, developing, and supervising nursing staff activities while providing overall management and support to the clinical team.

  • Clinical Operations: Oversee daily clinical operations, including making rounds and monitoring resident conditions to ensure safety and quality of care.

  • Personnel Management: Collaborate with the DON to recruit, hire, and train nursing staff. Assist with performance appraisals and resolve personnel issues, including disciplinary actions.

  • Compliance & Policy: Aid in the development and implementation of nursing objectives, policies, and procedures. Stay current on regulatory changes to ensure facility compliance.

  • Advocacy & Communication: Act as a liaison between residents, family members, and physicians. Provide regular reports and recommendations to the DON regarding nursing operations.

  • Staff Development: Conduct ongoing in-service training for nursing staff to ensure consistent care delivery and the promotion of resident rights.

  • Direct Care & Support: Serve as back-up for DON, RN, and LVN staff, providing direct resident care as needed to maintain facility standards.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered RN license.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse clinical team.
