Job Description
Position Title: Land Surveyor Intern I-II
Division: 9
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Trial Period: 12 Months
Note: Candidates selected for positions at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation may be required to complete a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and physical abilities test before beginning employment.
Positions in this job are assigned responsibility of continuing to gain experience and knowledge of the science and art required in implementing the professional skills of land surveying, geodetic surveying, American Land Title Association (ALTA) American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM) surveys and dependent or independent surveys; or re-surveys of the public land system and serve as an expert witness for state and local agencies, consultants and the public. Incumbents accomplish this by performing a variety of surveying tasks, under the supervision of a licensed Professional Land Surveyor, by reviewing and evaluating the work of state and local agencies and consultants.
Level I
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of an associate’s degree in land surveying.
Level II
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of registration as a Land Surveyor Intern by the Oklahoma State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
Some positions may require possession of a valid Oklahoma driver’s license at the time of appointment. Some agencies may have determined positions in this job family to be safety sensitive as defined by 63 O.S. § 427.8.
