Job Description:
Job Duties:
Participating in Underground Safety Committee Hearings and all related activities such as: creation of case listings, drafting and sending notices, drafting responses drafting findings of facts and judgments, issuance and tracking of judgments, assisting the Committee in all steps of regulation drafting and processes, and working with the public on issues related to Committee jurisdiction. Assisting with regulation work in other Agency programs. Monitoring and processing public records requests. Other duties as assigned and within the scope of the classification.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies from an American Bar Association approved program at an accredited college or successful completion of a program at an American Bar Association approved paralegal institute. Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in drafting and publication steps for Agency regulations; experience communicating legal principals to non-legal stakeholders; experience tracking payments and working with the Nebraska State Treasurers Office; ability to multitask on non-traditional legal duties; experience working from various remote locations.
Other: This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver’s license or another form of reliable transportation. Regular and reliable attendance required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Principles and practices of civil law administration; Agency rules, regulations, policies, and procedures pertinent to the Fuels Division and legal services; goals, scope and impact of agency programs; the agency organizational structure, functional relationships, and legal processes of the courts and legislative/administrative bodies of Nebraska, the techniques of preparing and drafting legal documents and forms; and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
