Job Description:
Job Duties
Conducts core digital archiving responsibilities, including appraising and acquiring born-digital records, processing collections, creating DACS- compliant finding aides in ArchivesSpace, and providing both onsite and virtual reference services. Supervises digitization staff, managing project timelines, refining workflows, and ensuring alignment with current achival and digitization standards.
Implements digital preservation strategies, performing preservation actions on digital materials and ensuring their long-term integrity using Preservica. Develops and maintains workflows, policies, and procedures for the acquisition, management, and preservation of born-digital records and digitized assets within a digital preservation system. Administers archival software platforms, including Preservica and ArchiveSpace; troubleshoots technical issues and collaborates with IT staff to ensure system functionality and sustainability. Communicates effectively with a range of audiences, providing research guidance, consulting with peer institutions and governmental agencies, and promoting collaboration across internal departments. Other duties as assigned within the scope of classification.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Master of Library Science or a Masters of Library and Information Systems from an American Library Association Accredited Library School, plus one year of relevant experience. Experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Three or more years of practical collection experiencing an archive, museum, historical society, special collections library, or community organization, ideally working with digital records.
Other: This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of archival theory and national standards for archival description, digitization, and digital preservation. Demonstrated experience in project management. Active involvement in a professional association. Ability to obtain comprehensive subject area expertise.
