Systems Engineering Manager

Boeing is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager to lead the Sustainment and Management of the Software Development and Integration Laboratory in support of the International Space Station (ISS) Program based out of Houston, TX.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a world-class systems engineering team and software development laboratory to support the design, development, integration, validation and verification of the International Space Station, keeping the orbiting vehicle sustained for the foreseeable future. You will be a leader of a high-performance systems engineering team interacting with customers, suppliers, program management, integration and test engineers.

The successful candidate will integrate the activities of the SDIL team to assure a strong systems engineering approach and will develop and maintain a functioning lab environment that will enable the program to meet the technical performance parameters and mission success.

Position Responsibilities:

  • SDIL operations (logistics, configuration management, architecture documentation, rig configuration)

  • Lab anomalies (identification, tracking and resolution)

  • SDIL network and server management

  • Lab IT Security (firewall and account management, intrusion monitoring, audits)

  • Lab safety (requirements compliance and safety walks)

  • Lab hardware management (upgrades/obsolesence)

  • Support hardware and software integration activities for the ISS Program

  • Work with NASA customer to understand SDIL facility requirements

  • Flow the requirements to the appropriate stakeholders

  • Perform test planning and execution to include functional validation and formal requirement sell-off

  • Provide leadership over planning, scheduling, risk management and opportunity capture

  • Collaborate with cross functional departments to ensure system objectives are being met

  • Support new business development activities, including proposals, cost and schedule estimation

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in a technical leadership position

  • Experience in software development and testing tools (e.g., editors, compilers, linkers, desktop simulations, configuration management tools, requirements management tools) capability and usage

  • 9+ years of engineering experience

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working with ISS software development and test

  • Experience managing a software lab

NASA Site Access:

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Summary pay range: $151,300 - $204,700
