The Sign Technician provides the safe and efficient movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic through the installation and maintenance of traffic control signing and recording the required documentation of those traffic control devices.

We Require
One year of experience in striping, sign installation, road marking, or other related experience in traffic signals and traffic control, or two years of experience in roadway construction
High school diploma or GED
Must possess or have the ability to obtain an American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) Flagging certification within six months of hire
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire

For traffic control assignments: Traffic Control Technician and/or experience as a Traffic Control Supervisor
Job Contributions
Install and maintain traffic control signing consistent with MUTCD standards
Input all work in real-time using an electronic asset management program
Assigned a one-ton truck and responsible for following all maintenance/ service requirements
Operate and maintain various hand tools and power equipment
Participate in On-Call/Standby with 24-hour response when requested, flooded roadway response, special signing projects, dedications, emergencies, Palo Verde drills, and exercises
Two-way radio communication with dispatch and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office
Assess and report roadway and traffic control conditions, damage, and flooding
Other job duties as assigned
Working Conditions
Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 - 20 pounds constantly
Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration
Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel
Machines, tools, equipment, software, and hardware
Hand tools, landscape tools, post hole digger, auger, jackhammer, wheelbarrow, cement, one-ton sign truck, Cartegraph Asset Management
Protective equipment required
Safety boots, hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, type II safety vest
