This Legal Support Assistant performs a variety of entry-level specialized clerical support duties of limited complexity with established guidelines and procedures within the justice system.
This recruitment will be used to fill both general- and grant-funded positions.

We Require
One year of experience performing specialized clerical and customer service duties
High school diploma or GED
Post-secondary education may substitute for the minimum experience on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements
The Maricopa County Attorney's Office requires a thorough background check of all successful candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs
Drug testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and prior to placement

Job Contributions
Organize case files for close-out and storage; enter case disposition and close-out information into the Maricopa County Attorney's Office internal database
Enter and retrieve case information from various databases, including the Motor Vehicle Department, Justice Court database, Superior Court database, among others
Pull case files for court calendar and file documents with the court
Perform criminal history/criminal records checks and bureau-specific data entry
Maintain a current Terminal Operator Certification with the Department of Public Safety
Assist with document delivery runs between downtown buildings
Provide reception relief/coverage; answer multi-line telephone - answer general information questions, transfer calls, and take messages
Review electronic minute entry folder; retrieve and distribute electronic pleadings and minute entries
Type subpoenas
Entering data into database software
Update discovery log, upload discovery, and scan documents
Working Conditions
Mostly office setting in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Requires long periods of sitting while completing computer activities
Ability to travel to and from various county locations for meetings and trainings, utilizing personal or county vehicle
Ability to lift boxes and/or pull a mail cart weighing 25 – 40 pounds
A hybrid or alternative work schedule can be considered after your first 6 months of employment. This is based on the business needs at the time of the request
