JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Manager of Marketing and External Relations , the Intern will help execute marketing and communications initiatives aimed at potential referral sources and the general public to increase Burke's market share for all service areas and expand Burke's presence in the community.
Work Performed:
- Work on special projects and events within the Marketing Department of Burke Rehabilitation Hospital.
- Help develop ideas for our social media channels- Facebook, X, lnstagram, Linkedln, and Youtube.
- Edit copy for the Burke website.
- Help create digital and printed communications materials.
- Research and write copy for internal newsletter, The Colonnade and e-blasts.
- Maintain local event calendars.
- Perform administrative tasks as necessary including but not limited to: filing photo consent forms, organizing photo and video library, data entry and compiling email lists
- Assist in community marketing by gathering materials for off-site conferences and events
- Take and edit photos and videos as needed
- Practices Standard Precautions. Follows regulations, policies and guidelines on the prevention of infections; does not eat or drink in patient care areas.
- Maintains confidentiality of information; abides by HIPAA regulations.
- Maintains a professional image and follows Hospital's policy on uniforms;
- Wears hospital identification badge while on duty.
- Demonstrates reliable, on-time attendance, which is an essential function of all jobs at Burke.
- Completes mandatory annual learning (Learning Harbor) within deadline.
- Personally adheres to Burke C.A.R.E.S. philosophy by demonstrating compassion, accountability, respect and exceeding expectations through service excellence.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Student must be enrolled in marketing, public relations, or related college program
- Some experience with writing marketing/public relations/social media materials including related coursework
- Previous experience with MS Office programs
- Ability to travel and attend special events if/when appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong communication skills, including writing skills and a good command of English grammar.
- Passion for and experience with using social networks and social media.
- Experience working with content management systems helpful.
- Some experience working with computer programs, PowerPoint, Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite and Excel desired.
- Familiarity with AP style preferred.
- Professional interest in public relations, marketing or communications for the healthcare industry preferred.
- Strong people skills and a team player attitude are essential.
Experience to be Gained:
- Valuable professional experience working in a fast paced marketing/public relations department.
- Mentoring from seasoned marketing and public relations professionals.
- Exposure to the healthcare industry.
Work Schedule : 12-15 hours per week. Can be flexible with schedule.
