Additional Job Description:
West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics seek a General Pediatrician to help support clinical care needs in the NICU and outpatient arenas (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the NICU for 60% of their clinical duties, independently managing step-down patients and assisting in the care of critically ill premature neonates. The remaining 40% of their clinical duties will be in the outpatient clinic performing procedures, managing an independent panel of patients, and supervising trainees in the acute care clinic. The successful candidate will provide excellent patient care, work collaboratively with other pediatric subspecialists, and actively teach medical students, residents, and fellows
Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed a pediatric residency program. Successful candidates must be board certified / eligible in pediatrics. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
About WVU Medicine Children's
Our 150 bed Children’s Hospital has a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital includes 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 26 PICU beds, Heart Center, and a dedicated Cancer Center. WVU Medicine Children’s is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. There is also a Birthing Center including a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.
