A successful Material Prep Operator I uses hand grinders, pedestal grinders and hand files to remove burrs and thread starts from various machined components in a safe manner. This is an hourly position reporting to the Group Leader.Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to operate manual Bridgeport machines, grinders and sandblasting equipment.
Operate crane system for moving and handling heavier materials.
Ability to comprehend all routing and product documentation.
Ability to operate the parts washer.
Ability to maintain the work area including housekeeping and organization.
Ability to effectively communicate and interact with other department employees and other personnel as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Highschool Diploma or GED required.
Requires strong written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
Must demonstrate the ability to comprehend and follow work directions in a safe and proficient manner.
Basic ability to read and follow routing steps.
Basic understanding of material locations.
Basic computer skills.
Basic experience with small hand tools, grinders sanders and files.
Mechanical aptitude.
Must be capable of obtaining a fork truck operators license and capable of operating a fork truck.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods standing.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
