WIP Specialist

Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating Work in Process (WIP) and machining in the required sequence to meet customer delivery expectations. This position issues job travelers to the shop floor, monitors machine schedules, and ensures seamless material availability. The position is an office, hourly position and reports to the Manufacturing/Inventory Control Supervisor.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor and evaluate all machine schedules, collaborating with supervisors and technical advisors to ensure efficient processing and maximize productivity utilizing the Epicor system. 
  • Evaluate material availability to support responsible machine schedules. 
  • Maintain WIP adjustments and update shop order and traveler due dates as requirements change to monitor order progression. 
  • Organize, issue, and distribute job travelers to the responsible shop floor areas. 
  • Follow-up with purchasing to resolve any issues or concerns related to material delivery. 
  • Communicate all scheduling and manufacturing interruptions or disruptions to relevant parties to facilitate efficient material flow throughout the facility. 
  • Facilitate the completion and partial closure of manufacturing job travelers, coordinating with the Materials Analyst as required. 
  • Coordinate and respond to expedited requests to fulfill scheduling requirements. 
  • Operate a Tow Motor daily in addition to overseeing general material flows. 
  • Maintain compliance with company policy, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment required; 5 years preferred. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in Erp functions (Epicor preferred). 
  • Basic computer skills including Google Sheets/ Excel required. Advanced computer skills preferred. 
  • Basic print reading skills required. 
  • Extensive knowledge in scheduling and scheduling modifications with ability to consolidate like products to meet due dates. 
  • Familiarity with different types of steel and various materials. 
  • Understanding of machining process and flow. 
  • Must be an ambitious self starter, capable of working in a fast paced customer focused environment. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods standing. 
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times.
