The Role
The Events business is currently seeking candidates for the role of Senior Counsel.
This position reports to the General Counsel of the company. The ideal candidate has transactional experience at a top law firm and/or in-house practice, including commercial transactions, corporate transactions, and intellectual property matters. The lawyer will be required to handle their own workload and also supervise/manage more junior lawyers/paralegals on the team. As such, the role is looking for lawyers who seek responsibility, are team players, and have a positive attitude.
Location: Hybrid - New York, Miami, or Los Angeles
Anticipated Direct Reports: Paralegal / Contract Administrator
Key Responsibilities:
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of complex commercial contracts, including sponsorship, vendor, marketing, services, and venue agreements.
Provide comprehensive legal advice and counsel to internal business units and company leadership on deal structures, operational considerations, trademark clearances and other IP-related issues, and overarching risk assessment, ensuring that guidance is robust and in the company’s interests.
Research, manage, and track existing contractual obligations.
Support corporate transactions, including M&A, joint ventures, and other strategic partnerships.
Coordinate with cross-functional departments on various legal matters.
Provide real-time analysis and advice on business and legal issues, including questions of contract interpretation and enforcement.
Implement and refine policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective contract-administration and document-management processes.
Collaborate with and support other members of the U.S. legal team and international colleagues.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the business.
Collaborate with external counsel as needed and manage legal budgets efficiently.
Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
JD from an ABA accredited law school. Admitted to the bar in the applicable jurisdiction and in good standing.
Minimum of 3-6 years of legal experience, with some experience in the entertainment, events, or sports industry preferred but not required.
Ability to handle ambiguity and change while prioritizing and managing multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Comfort with a variety of technology, including advanced Word and Excel skills.
Must be detail oriented, highly organized, thorough, and comfortable with complexity.
Have strong negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate risk, advise various business units of the risks, and exercise sound legal judgment.
Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills that will enable interaction with a range of seniority levels and styles in a fast-paced business environment (including explaining legal concepts to colleagues who may have limited legal knowledge and time).
Have an effective solution-oriented problem-solving approach to legal issues and a strong work ethic.
Positive and highly team-oriented approach to work.
Per local requirements and in the interest of transparency, the hourly rate shown below reflects the prevalent current hiring range for this position. Hiring pay rates are based on a number of factors, including location and may vary depending on job-related qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience. Hiring Rate Minimum:
$146,250 annually (minimum will not fall below the applicable state/local minimum salary thresholds)Hiring Rate Maximum:
$195,000 annually
