The VP, Controller-Capital Partners & Strategic Investments is responsible for leading certain aspects of financial accounting, internal controls, budgeting, and financial reporting for the Company’s Capital Partners & Strategic Investments. Leads global projects to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function in an increasingly complex environment. This role works in close collaboration across several areas of the business and works with the global Finance Team to add value across relevant teams. This role will be required to help prepare budgets and other financial plans for management information, corporate entities, third parties in conjunction with the company's Financial Planning and Analysis activities.
The VP, Controller - Capital Partners & Strategic Investments assists in leading strategic planning for the functional area and may have oversight of and provide support for strategic projects for the global finance team. Additionally, this role will lead and manage the team providing direction and actively developing team members.
Principal Accountabilities:
Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting
▪ Lead the preparation of accurate financial reporting, both for internal and external purposes, including both actual and forecasted information as applicable, following required GAAP and regulatory standards, including more technical areas.
▪ Perform detailed analysis and reconciliation of GAAP results for various managed Joint Ventures and Fund Structures to ensure a thorough understanding of reported results, troubleshooting any issues through to a successful conclusion.
▪ Oversee complex joint ventures and fund activities, including NAV estimates and fee calculations, accruals and billings and other ad hoc support as needed. ▪ Provide support to the business team on capital raising activities and investor queries.
▪ Oversee the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close and NAV calculations, including forecasting and actual financial reporting, in compliance with US, or other relevant GAAP, or other regulatory requirements.
▪ Work with relevant partners to ensure accuracy of transactions and financial disclosure. ▪ Lead the continued enhancement and ongoing development of multiple financial systems ensuring that all Finance needs are met.
▪ Communicate with our auditors. ▪ Lead the preparation / review of technical accounting memos observing US GAAP, including more technically challenging accounting memos.
▪ Oversee the internal control environment and ensure appropriate SOX 404 pro
cesses exist and are followed for preparation and submission of financial data
Strategic Projects
▪ Identify opportunities for process improvement and enhancement at a global level and propose and implement solutions to improve the efficiency of the functional area. ▪ Lead global projects and essential projects workstreams specific to large global projects.
▪ Participate in miscellaneous project work and provide general assistance to the Finance Department and other areas.
▪ Provide ad-hoc support to the CAO, Global Corporate Controller and business lead.
Team Oversight
▪ Manage a team of professionals, providing appropriate guidance and career development.
Expected Competencies:
▪ A university degree is required, preferably with an emphasis on business, finance and accounting; an advanced degree is advantageous.
▪ A professional accounting designation (e.g. CA, ACA, CPA).
▪ At least 7 to 10 years prior relevant industry experience (Ideally including Big Four audit experience, of which a minimum of 5 years must be focused on third party capital activities and reinsurance accounting.

▪ Strong knowledge of US GAAP, other relevant GAAP or regulatory reporting requirements as applicable, particularly as it relates to FASB consolidation and equity method guidance, fair value guidance and derivative guidance, and proven ability to analyze FASB guidance and apply it to business activities required.
▪ Experience with public companies SEC reporting and SOX 404 is required.
▪ Proficiency in the use of computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)
▪ Strong working knowledge of general ledger and other accounting sub-systems
▪ Strong background in business process reviews and analysis, finance systems and internal controls.
▪ Experience communicating at the C-Suite and Board level. This is a fast-paced business environment, demanding a strong work ethic and a results-oriented approach.
