About the Department
Job Summary
Responsibilities
Strategy Development & Execution
Supports department leadership in developing and implementing long-term strategic plans for recruitment, marketing, and program growth.
Translates strategy into actionable tactics; identifies priorities and monitors progress via metrics and reports.
Participates in institutional surveys (e.g., USNWR, CAP, Joint Commission) and manages related agreements.
Assesses provider capacity and staffing to ensure access and operational readiness.
Clinical Practice Management
Collaborates with UCM and BSD leadership to ensure efficient clinical operations, including offsite locations and joint ventures.
Supports clinical program growth aligned with UCM’s mission.
Financial Oversight
Prepares budgets and financial analyses; monitors performance and productivity metrics.
Manages expenses, identifies cost-saving opportunities, and ensures billing compliance.
Analyzes data for reporting and decision-making; flags financial trends and proposes corrective actions.
Academic Affairs
Manages faculty recruitment, appointments, onboarding, reappointments, and promotions.
Oversees credentialing, medical privileges, and supports search committee processes.
Serves as liaison between faculty and administration on personnel matters.
People Management
Leads departmental staff, focusing on engagement, performance, and professional development.
Oversees recruitment, onboarding, evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary actions in collaboration with HR.
Ensures policy compliance and fosters a culture of mentorship, communication, and best practices.
Marketing, Communications & Outreach
Supports external marketing and programmatic growth efforts with UCM Marketing.
Develops internal communication strategies and coordinates CME and department events.
Compliance
Ensures readiness for audits and compliance with academic, financial, HR, and regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA), in coordination with UCM Corporate Compliance.
Miscellaneous
Provides leadership to professional staff within a department to support teaching, medical research and clinical care. Facilitates research initiatives of the faculty and staff.
Recommends department priorities, allocates resources and executes strategic plans.
Develops non-medical activities of the department(s). Manages policy development and implementation in various departmental areas.
Manages a team(s) including those within hospital functions.
Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Education:
Master’s degree in business, health care administration, nursing, or a related field.
Experience:
3+ years of progressively responsible administrative/supervisory experience.
Experience in healthcare or an academic medical center environment (with matrix reporting).
Working knowledge of grants and contracts regarding major federal awards and/or initiation of clinical trials.
Demonstrated experience with budgeting and forecasting.
Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software.
Knowledge of accounting principles, grant/award administration, hospital finance, and pathology department operations.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and quantitative skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Clinical-Office Environment.
Weekend/Evening Hours: As needed.
Travel Required: Limited, 5%.
