The Research Assistant (RA) will work on wave energy conversion research projects and support other research tasks. Projects will include improving the performance of wave-powered water pump (WPWP) for promoting growth rates in aquaculture and will use a combination of numerical simulations (Computational Fluid Dynamics, WEC-Sim) and tank tests.
Duties/Responsibilities
Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations in support of wave energy research tasks. (75%)
Conduct tank experiments in support of wave energy research tasks. (25%)
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
B.S. in an engineering discipline
Experience in Marine Energy Collegiate Competition (MECC)
Relevant course work: Fluid Dynamics, Waves & Tides, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Dynamics, Thermodynamics.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with CFD (OpenFOAM)
Experience with laboratory testing of marine energy devices
