The NSO Training Team is made up of individuals from our operations team who come from diverse backgrounds, possess different experience levels and have been identified as leaders among their peers. With the large anticipated growth in the coming months and years, we are building and continually replenishing our team of Opening Trainers. There is not a limit to the number of people we place on our team, if they have the right qualities.

 

What are the qualities required of an Opening Trainer?

  • Flexible & adaptable: It’s key for an Opening Trainer to be ready for anything.
  • Top-notch communication skills: An Opening Trainer must possess strong communication skills, so they are able to effectively convey all our station standards and the nuances of Shack culture and hospitality.
  • Dependable: We count on our Opening Trainers to always be on time and fully prepared to work.
  • Knowledge of Standards: Opening Trainers should have strong working knowledge of recipes, procedures, and menu standards and are expected to set the right example with the new hires.
  • Boundless Positive Energy: An Opening Trainer should possess a natural warmth and lively energy.
  • Embodies Shack Culture & Hospitality: Opening Trainers are living examples of the Shack Pact and are sure to bring their passion, energy, and vibrant personalities to the new hires each day.
  • Curious Intelligence: Opening Trainers are humble, unafraid to ask questions, and eager to expand their knowledge.
  • Grace under pressure: Staying calm and level-headed is key, as high-pressure situations tend to be the norm at an Opening. - Willing to accept feedback: Often at openings, we encounter situations where the correct standard is different from what someone may have learned at their home Shack. Trainers should be flexible and open to receiving feedback. Opening Trainers will train Team Members on the 49% skills of Shack Standards, while showing the 51% examples of the qualities listed above

Beginning as a hot dog cart in New York City’s Madison Square Park, Shake Shack was created by Danny Meyer, Founder and CEO of Union Square Hospitality Group and best-selling author of Setting the Table.
