The Strategic Sharing Facilitator is responsible for delivering engaging, trauma-informed training to individuals with lived experience in the child welfare system, equipping them to share their personal stories in ways that are meaningful, focused, and impactful. This role ensures participants learn to communicate their experiences in a manner that influences positive change while safeguarding their emotional well-being and minimizing potential risks associated with personal sharing.
Duties/Responsibilities
Facilitate Strategic Sharing training sessions for individuals with lived experience in child welfare, including birth parents, caregivers, foster/adoptive parents, and youth who have experienced care.
Guide participants in identifying key elements of their stories to align with the goals of influencing policy, practice, and system improvement.
Teach and model storytelling techniques that focus on relevance, clarity, and purpose.
Provide strategies for setting personal boundaries and maintaining emotional safety while sharing personal experiences.
Create a supportive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment that honors participant perspectives and fosters trust.
Adapt facilitation techniques to meet the diverse needs, learning styles, and comfort levels of participants.
Collaborate with program staff to refine training content, activities, and materials to ensure cultural responsiveness and effectiveness.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in all training interactions.
Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
Demonstrated experience facilitating training or workshops, preferably in human services, child welfare, or community engagement settings.
Lived experience in the child welfare system strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based practices.
Excellent communication, active listening, and group facilitation skills.
Ability to create a safe and supportive environment for sharing sensitive personal stories.
Skilled in adapting facilitation for various group sizes and participant needs.
Commitment to professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Experience in public speaking, storytelling, or advocacy.
Knowledge of child welfare policies, practices, and systems.
Capacity to manage emotional topics with empathy and professionalism.
Flexibility, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
