Perform routine housekeeping, light maintenance, and grounds (including snow removal) related tasks to maintain a safe, clean, and healthy living and working environment for residents and assigned staff of 2, on campus, university apartment complexes. 

Job Duties 

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks in assigned area within 2 on-campus apartment complexes. Areas include public restrooms, laundry rooms, corridors, lounges, and stairwells.

  • Follow the safe handling and cleaning of blood borne pathogens and bodily fluids.  

  • Routinely clean floor coverings, including vacuuming, spot cleaning and extraction of carpets, sweeping, and mopping of hard surface floors.  

  • Collect and remove all waste material, sort recyclable materials, and discard in outdoor collection bins.  

  • Utilize approved cleaning chemicals and equipment to clean and sanitize all contact surfaces.

  • Maintain clean grounds and walkways to include mowing, raking, pruning, weeding, sweeping and mulch beds.  

  • Perform light maintenance duties including light bulb replacement, drain clog removal, pest control, painting, patching, and minor furniture repairs.  

  • Maintain tools and equipment as required. Assist with furniture moving and special event set- ups.  

  • Respond to maintenance requests for service as needed.  

  • Report all items that require maintenance/repair.  

  • Perform restorative project work during winter, spring, and summer breaks, including deep cleaning vacant student rooms and common areas 

  • Restore floor surfaces, including stripping and re-finishing, scrubbing, scraping, and buffing.  

  • Take part in a rotating on call schedule to respond to after hour emergencies. Participate in job related training and team meetings including regular staff meetings, annual safety training, and Department of Housing and university community events as required 

  • Snow removal is required from walkways using shovels, tractor mounted and walk behind snow throwers. Snow removal may require work after hours depending on storm timelines.  

  • Perform other duties as assigned.  

 

Requirements: 

  • High school or vocational school graduation or equivalent.  

  • Skills in minor plumbing, electrical work and carpentry.  

  • Ability to use tools and machinery.  

  • Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather for prolonged periods of time.  

  • Must successfully complete a job specific, bio-mechanical test. 

  • Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.  

  • Must take part in rotating on call availability.  

  • Must be able to effectively work alone as well as with others.  

  • Must possess the ability to effectively handle multiple tasks.
