Job:

Technical Theatre Specialist

Theatrical production work including set, props, painting, costume, lighting, sound and/or video.

Job Description:

Major duties will include assisting the Theatre Department Technical Director and Director of Production in construction, painting and installation of scenic, props, lighting, sound, and video elements for the Department’s curricular productions.  The TTS will also assist with supervision of student crews in Barnard’s production spaces.  Applicants should have at least three years of experience in professional theatrical production, with demonstrated proficiency in theatrical scenery construction, painting and rigging, theatrical lighting work including hang and focus of lighting instruments, and sound and video equipment setup and troubleshooting.  The TTS will work at all times in a manner conducive to safe working procedures and conditions, and must be capable of instructing students in same.

Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:

Competence in one or more of the following areas:

  • theatrical scenery construction, painting and rigging
  • props sourcing and fabrication
  • scenic art
  • theatrical lighting hang and focus techniques
  • sound and video equipment setup and troubleshooting.

Pay Rate: $33/hour

Approximately 150 hours of work per production is expected, totaling about 600 hours per academic year

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
