The University of New Hampshire seeks outstanding poets with an established publication history for a position as visiting poet during the 2026-2027 academic year. The Nossrat Yassini Poet in Residence is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal, that is designed to support the annual Nossrat Yassini Poetry Festival and to promote poetic culture in the UNH community.
Each semester you will be responsible for teaching one graduate and/or undergraduate in-person poetry courses. You will be expected to promote and participate in the festival in a variety of ways throughout the year, working with the festival director and faculty advisor. In addition, you will be expected to participate in the cultural life of the UNH English Department by regularly attending readings, lectures, presentations, and other campus activities.
Duties/Responsibilities
Teach two four-credit graduate poetry courses over the course of the academic year.
Participate in the poetry festival and contribute to the enrichment of the poetry curriculum.
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
Successful track record and notoriety as a published poet.
