The Executive Director, Health & Well-Being, reporting to the Vice President of Student Life, is responsible for overseeing Health and Wellness, Psychological and Counseling Services, and Student Accessibility Services. This role focuses on managing a specific program and/or service while providing oversight to the Health and Well-Being portfolio that advances student health, counseling, wellness, prevention, and accessibility initiatives for the student population. The Executive Director evaluates the current service delivery models and proactively develops progressive strategies to reimagine how services are provided, fostering innovation, efficiency and long-term impact. Through ongoing assessment and the implementation of effective continuous improvement models, the Executive Director creates and maintains a student-centered approach that supports academic success, fosters resilience, and cultivates an inclusive campus culture of care. Additionally, the Executive Director is dedicated to ensuring high-quality, accessible shared services while aligning operations with institutional priorities, compliance standards, and best practices in higher education and public health.
Duties/Responsibilities
Program and/or Service Operational Oversight (30%)
Provide leadership, supervision and professional development for staff in a program and/ or service within the Health and Well-Being portfolio.
Provide oversight to a program and/ or service within the Health and Well-Being portfolio.
Monitor and assess program needs and outcomes to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with division and institutional goals.
Educate and train faculty, staff, and administrators in discipline regarding legal requirements along with how to access program and/ or service.
Collaborate and consult with stakeholders across all USNH campus communities to develop and recommend policies and procedures related to the well-being of students within specific discipline.
Serve on relevant campus committees to increase student access and retention to specific program and/ or service.
Strategic Execution and Health and Well-Being Programmatic Oversight (30%)
In partnership with the Vice President of Student Life, lead a unified, student-centered, comprehensive Health and Well-Being Strategy that integrates clinical care, mental health, public health initiatives, wellness programming of Student Life.
Lead the transformation of student well-being services through innovative, shared service delivery models by assessing the current model and developing strategic, visionary approaches to ensure services are provided in a more efficient, effective and sustainable manner.
Anticipate emerging trends in higher education, healthcare and student well-being to inform long-term planning.
Oversee the hiring, supervision, and professional development of unit leaders and staff.
Serve as the Health & Well-Being spokesperson, branding and promoting Health & Well-Being to the campus community, identifying barriers to accessing care, creating avenues for increased awareness and utilization, and advising campus leaders on health-related issues.
Maintain awareness of area budgets to ensure expenditures align with strategic priorities while remaining responsive to student needs and public health standards. Monitor fiscal performance by reviewing forecasts, expense trends and the connection to program objectives, assessments and the annual budget process.
Health System Integration and Student Support (20%)

Represent the University in external partnerships to include public health agencies, treatment providers and community organizations.
Champion a holistic approach to student care by coordinating across university departments and with off-campus providers by establishing shared data systems, referral pathways, and communication strategies that support seamless student access to care.
Serve as a key liaison in university-level response systems for behavioral health and crisis support. Work closely with the Dean of Students to ensure adequate representation on the Behavioral Intervention Team and to support the Basic Needs Coordinator in addressing emergent student concerns that are reported to the Dean of Students.
Collaborate with campus safety, student accessibility services and equity/ inclusion offices to ensure coordinated student support.
Lead the student health leave of absence process.
Prevention and Education (10%)
Oversee wellness education, prevention initiatives, and harm reduction efforts.
Provide guidance to programs implemented across the Division that address substance use, interpersonal violence, nutrition, mental health, sexual health and emotional well-being.
Support and scale programming models and evidence-informed engagement strategies to advance equity in health access and outcomes for all students.
Assessment and Equity-Driven Innovation (10%)
Implement and manage assessment practices while ensuring compliance with public health regulations and University policies.
Use health utilization data and national benchmarks to evaluate impact, reduce barriers to care, and inform decisions around service delivery and assess program effectiveness.
Advance equity in access to services and culturally informed care.
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
Master’s degree in business administration, public administration or a related field
Five (5) years’ experience in public health, healthcare administration, business administration, counseling, higher education, social work or related field
Minimum of three (3) years of supervising professional staff.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to lead change and foster innovation in a changing higher education landscape.
Ability to anticipate emerging trends, assess long-term needs and develop proactive strategies to align health and well-being programs with institutional priorities.
Ability to analyze and evaluate existing service deliver models to identify opportunities for greater efficiency, collaboration and shared services.
Demonstrated capacity to develop and implement innovative, cross-campuses strategies that streamline resources, reduce duplication and enhance equitable access to student support services.
Knowledge of best practices in student health, counseling, wellness, prevention and accessibility as well as emerging trends in integrated and holistic service delivery within higher education.
Proven collaboration with campus and external partners to align resources and advance health and well-being initiatives.
Ability to assess and use health and wellness data, utilization trends and performance metrics to guide planning, allocate resources effectively and inform decision making.
Ability to gather stakeholder input to create best practices to create sustainable solutions and guide organization direction.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
Ability to manage staff to include setting specific, measurable goals for the organization and individual staff members.
Ability to promote an inclusive environment.
Understand healthcare expenditures and utilization to guide responsible and strategic spending.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working within a higher education setting.
Experience in collegiate health.
Understanding of policy issues as relates to higher education health and well-being programs.

Compensation Pay Range:
