NH GRANIT Project Director

Serve as Director of the NH GRANIT program and assume responsibility for the maintenance and enhancement of the statewide GIS data clearinghouse, including management and oversight of a comprehensive spatial database, delivery of data products to state, regional, and federal agencies and the general public, and performance of spatial analyses to address state and regional resource management issues. In addition, the director will manage, and report on grants from federal, state and private sources; coordinate with state and regional agency partners to acquire, manage, and distribute data on their behalf; manage the internal development of selected GRANIT data sets; manage the development of web-based data distribution and mapping tools; represent GRANIT on state-level coordination committees (GIS Steering, Advisory, and Technical Committees); prepare and deliver reports, workshops, and technical presentations regarding GRANIT; and monitor budgets and formulate financial plans to assure the continued operation of the NH GRANIT clearinghouse.

Duties/Responsibilities

Project Management (40%)

  • Manage the NH GRANIT web-based clearinghouse to deliver spatial data to the GIS constituency in the state and the region; coordinate with state and regional agency partners to maintain and update external components of the GRANIT database; manage the internal development of selected data components of the GRANIT database; manage the development of web-based mapping tools.

Project Coordination (20%)

  • Coordinate with state and federal partners to define technical specifications and acquire data assets on behalf of the state of NH

Project Funding (20%)

  • Identify financial opportunities; prepare project scopes, work statements, grants and other agreements

Project Overview (10%)

  • Monitor budgets and formulate financial plans to assure the continued operation of the NH GRANIT clearinghouse.

  • Hire, train, and supervise GRANIT staff (currently 2 full-time staff and hourly project staff)

Project Reporting (10%)

  • Prepare and deliver reports, workshops, and technical presentations to audiences at the national, state, and regional level

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in appropriate academic discipline (GIS, geography, environmental science, engineering, computer science,  or related field)

  • Five+ years’ professional experience including knowledge of and experience with geographic information systems

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work with representatives from multiple disciplines

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences

  • High-level language programming knowledge; ability to manipulate imagery as required; basic familiarity with system architecture

  • Extensive experience with the NH GRANIT project

  • Strong grant writing and proposal development capability

  • Extensive experience with ArcGIS Experience Builder

  • Extensive experience with ArcGIS Hub

  • Extensive experience with ArcGIS Enterprise Portal

  • Extensive experience with ArcGIS Online

  • Strong working knowledge of VertiGIS Geocortex

  • Strong working knowledge of VertiGIS Studio Web

  • Working knowledge of Trimble eCognition software

  • Strong working knowledge of image processing and the use of Landsat data

  • Strong and demonstrated working relationship with the NH Department of Environmental Services, NH Department of Environmental Services Coastal Program, NH Department of Transportation, NH Department of Business and Economic Affairs

Compensation Pay Range:

$63,250.00 - $113,160.00
