Employees in this job participate in a variety of activities designed to enhance highway safety and user efficiency through traffic control, signing, and marking situations.Disseminate basic traffic related information to the general public and other government agencies
Document activities
Deploy and remove Temporary Work Zone Traffic Zones for construction projects and emergencies as directed
Program, deploy, and retrieve speed monitors as directed
Program, deploy, and retrieve variable message boards as directed
Deploy and retrieve automatic traffic counter equipment as directed
Assist with turning movements recording as directed
Install new and refurbish existing pavement markings as directed (includes loading and handling of bulk materials)
Install and maintain permanent traffic control signage as directed
Assists with sight distance measurement and maintenance as directed
Performs basic traffic signal maintenance (housekeeping)
Performs inventory tracking and assists with procurement procedures
Oral and written communications must be clear and effective.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree or vocational/technical school training and two (2) years of related experience.
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.
Licenses and Certifications:
Class “B” Colorado Commercial Driver's License preferred, but not required
Supplemental Information:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
The employee is frequently exposed to dirt, smoke, fumes, extreme heat and cold for long duration, outside atmospheric conditions, traffic noise, and dust for sustained periods of time.
The employee is frequently exposed to possible bodily injury from moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, and machinery.
The employee is occasionally exposed to possible bodily injury from electrical shock, falling from high places, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
While performing the essential functions of this job, shaking objects or surfaces; conditions such as fumes, noxious odors, mists, gases, and poor ventilation that affect the respiratory system eyes, or the skin.
The employee is frequently exposed to loud noise, high speed and high volume road conditions and other traffic hazards.
Some after hours/modified work scheduling may be required to accomplish project goals.
