Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Utilizes critical thinking skills and the teaching of evidence-based practice.
- Utilizes Standard Universal Precautions.
- Advocates for patients and families to ensure positive patient care outcomes.
- Documents all changes as well as relevant information regarding patient’s response to intervention, therapeutic regimens, and patient progress as it relates to plan of care and patient’s response to teaching.
- Responds to patient needs in a timely manner, including answering call lights.
- Considers the impact of a critical illness and the critical care environment on the patient and family.
- Completes admission and on-going assessments based on patient needs within appropriate time frame.
- Demonstrates clinical competency and follows standards of care, policies and procedures.
- Continually insures patient safety by compliance with, but not limited to, hospital policies and procedures, HIPPA, the Joint Commission Patient Safety Goals and Universal protocol.
- Acts in accordance with Critical Care Nursing Standards.
- Utilizes appropriate clinical decisions in a rapidly changing environment.
- Monitors hemodynamic status.
- Demonstrates clinical proficiency in caring for the critically ill patient.
- Responds appropriately in an emergency situation.
Scheduled Hours: 36 hr/wk, rotating weekend/holiday coverage.
Work Shift: Night - 7p - 7a
Education Required: Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, Certifications Required:
- State of Massachusetts RN licensure (or eligibility)
- BLS
- ACLS
Experience: Previous experience in critical care preferred. Previous hospital experience preferred.
