Responsibilities include but are not limited to:       

• Utilizes critical thinking skills and the teaching of evidence-based practice.
• Utilizes Standard Universal Precautions.
• Advocates for patients and families to ensure positive patient care outcomes.
• Documents all changes as well as relevant information regarding patient’s response to intervention, therapeutic regimens, and patient progress as it relates to plan of care and patient’s response to teaching.
• Responds to patient needs in a timely manner, including answering call lights.
• Considers the impact of a critical illness and the critical care environment on the patient and family.
• Completes admission and on-going assessments based on patient needs within appropriate time frame.
• Demonstrates clinical competency and follows standards of care, policies and procedures.
• Continually insures patient safety by compliance with, but not limited to, hospital policies and procedures, HIPPA, the Joint Commission Patient Safety Goals and Universal protocol.
• Acts in accordance with Critical Care Nursing Standards.
• Utilizes appropriate clinical decisions in a rapidly changing environment.
• Monitors hemodynamic status.
• Demonstrates clinical proficiency in caring for the critically ill patient.
• Responds appropriately in an emergency situation.

Scheduled Hours: 36 hr/wk, rotating weekend/holiday coverage.

Work Shift: Night - 7p - 7a

Education Required: Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, Certifications Required:

• State of Massachusetts RN licensure (or eligibility) 
• BLS
• ACLS

Experience: Previous experience in critical care preferred. Previous hospital experience preferred.
