Cardiology Advanced Practitioner
BILH Primary Care – Woburn Medical Associates
Position Summary
Under the direction of a physician and within the established practice guidelines for a Physician Assistant (PA) and/or Nurse Practitioner (NP), the Cardiology Advanced Practitioner is responsible for a variety of duties related to the evaluation, treatment, diagnosis, and follow-up care of assigned patients. The role may also include providing pre-operative and post-operative care.
Job Description
The PA/NP will join our cardiology team, which includes three outpatient clinic physicians and three inpatient physicians. The practitioner will primarily focus on the outpatient care of cardiology patients, contributing to the delivery of the highest quality cardiovascular care.
Schedule
Full-time: 40 hours/week
32 Clinical Hours
8 Administrative Hours
Days: Monday through Friday (Day Shift)
No nights, weekends, major holidays, or call
Opportunity for future hospital diagnostic testing supervision and call
Education
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
Documentation of registration for, or successful completion of, the applicable board certification exam
Licensure, Certification, and Registration
Current license and certification to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
DEA number and Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) Controlled
Substances Registration (as applicable)
BLS certification (American Heart Association recommended)
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with medical staff, nursing staff, and administrative teams
Strong interpersonal skills for working with patients and families
Solid knowledge of clinical protocols and procedures
Ability to maintain confidentiality and provide emotional support when needed
Experience
Minimum 2 years of direct patient care experience
Cardiology experience strongly preferred
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Experience
Prior experience with EPIC is preferred
Clinical Responsibilities
In collaboration with the supervising physician, the Advanced Practitioner will assume responsibility for the outpatient care of general cardiology patients, including:
Providing follow-up care in an office setting
Ordering labs, diagnostic imaging, and prescriptions
Referring to cardiac rehabilitation, anticoagulation clinics, and other preventive services
Ensuring coordination and continuity of care
Collaborating with cardiologists, referring physicians, and care teams
The Ideal Candidate
At least 2 years of experience in an advanced practice role and/or clinical/nursing experience in a cardiac setting. Competency in identifying both basic and life-threatening arrhythmias.
