Job Description Summary
The Front Desk Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and visitors in a managed care primary care clinic. This role ensures a welcoming environment while managing patient check-in/check-out, scheduling, insurance verification, and communication with clinical staff. The receptionist supports smooth clinic operations by balancing customer service with accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
How will you make an impact & Requirements
Greet patients, visitors, and vendors in a professional and courteous manner.
Manage patient check-in and check-out, ensuring accurate collection and entry of demographic, insurance, and billing information.
Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations prior to appointments.
Collect copayments, balances, and issue receipts; reconcile payments at end of day.
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments in accordance with clinic policies and provider availability.
Answer multi-line phones, respond to inquiries, and route calls/messages to appropriate staff.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all clinic policies.
Support managed care requirements, including verifying referrals and authorizations as needed.
Communicate effectively with providers and medical assistants to support patient flow.
Assist with patient forms, medical records requests, and other administrative tasks.
Monitor the waiting area and ensure patient comfort and safety.
Participate in quality initiatives such as patient satisfaction efforts and managed care documentation accuracy.
