Job Summary and Responsibilities

Works with RN and provider to utilize the nursing process to identify patient needs and priorities of care through assessment and planning of care based on delegated tasks, patient needs, therapeutic interventions, and evaluation of the patient's response. Is held accountable for policies and procedures of the department and organization.  This position supports the mission, vision, and philosophy of CommonSpirit Health.

  • Assist RN and healthcare providers with examinations, treatments, special tests, and routine procedures
  • Obtains patient health history, laboratory specimens, and vital signs
  • Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol
  • Assess and reassess patients, plan of care, implements care and re-evaluates are based on patient response to treatments
  • Educate patient and families about disease process, proposed treatments, medications, and discharge
  • Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms
  • Maintains order, stock, and cleanliness of all areas in the Obstetrics Department

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Obstetrics LPN experience, Preferred.

Licensure and Certifications

  • Licensed Practical Nurse: North Dakota (LPN:ND), Required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR), Required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • within 6 months of start. 
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) 
    • within 6 months of start. 
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • within 12 months of start.
