Vice Chair, Clinical Operations

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking to employ a Board Certified, Vice Chair of Clinical Operations for the Department of Internal Medicine at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey. This is an excellent opportunity to become a member of the expanding health network. The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical and leadership skills along with strong communication and a commitment to outstanding patient care. This role collaborates with the Department Chair of Internal Medicine to provide leadership for all Internal Medicine patient care services and other related activities. This is an 80% administrative (Vice Chair, Clinical Operations) and 20% clinical (Faculty Hospitalist) position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with the Department Chair to establish departmental goals, contribute to strategic planning, and develop innovative clinical programs. 
  • Provide direct oversight for the quality of care delivered by all Department of Medicine providers. 
  • Lead efforts to improve key performance indicators, efficiency, and overall patient experience.
  • Assist the Chair in the recruitment and professional activities of departmental physicians.
  • Actively participate in the education and supervision of medical students, residents, fellows, and APPs, fostering a culture of academic excellence.
  • Serve as a Faculty Hospitalist (20%), managing a panel of adult inpatients through the full cycle of care, including examination, diagnosis, and care coordination.
  • Support the Chair with key administrative activities within the Department of Medicine. 
  • Assist in maintaining and enforcing Medical Center bylaws, rules, and departmental policies to ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence.

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • M.D./D.O. degree from a recognized Medical or Osteopathic School
  • Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
  • Current, valid NJ Medical License, CDS, and DEA.
  • 7+ years post-residency experience in the care of medical patients
  • Qualifications as an Attending physician on the Medical Center
  • Possesses the vision and experience to advance the Departmental and Institutional goals
  • Ability to work collaboratively with professional peers and effectively supervise members of the Department

 

COMPENSATION:

Minimum Starting Salary: $216,675

Education and Certifications: Degrees attained, residencies, fellowships, board certifications, research, and publications.

Productivity: Levels of productivity, quality and patient satisfaction.

Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies.

Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.

Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the specialty and/or sub-specialty.

Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.
