Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Lead Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, visitors, and property within the healthcare facility. This role involves conducting regular patrols, responding promptly to emergencies, inspecting fire and safety equipment, and protecting individuals and property from theft, damage, hazards, and workplace violence.The officer will provide lead direction and support to on-shift Security Officers as needed, performing complex duties and acting as Officer-In-Charge when required. Responsibilities also include enforcing facility policies, managing disruptive behavior, monitoring alarm systems, performing traffic control, and maintaining accurate reports and documentation.

 

This position requires strong customer service, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Officers must complete all required training programs, including workplace violence prevention and emergency response, while remaining in compliance with all licensing and competency standards. Security Officers are expected to uphold the Mission and Core Values of Dignity Health, including compassion, integrity, and humankindness, while supporting the organization’s safety and quality improvement goals.

Job Requirements

Minimum:

 

  • Six (6) months experience as a Security Officer involving extensive public contact.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid AZ State Drivers License with satisfactory DMV report upon hire and annually.
  • Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR)

 

Preferred:

  • One (1) year experience as a Security Officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service.
  • Completion of college level education courses in Criminal Justice.
