Job Summary

The Technical Writer Manager will lead a team of technical writers in creating, managing, and delivering high-quality documentation to support our product offerings, content creation including installation manuals, operation and maintenance guides, training content, internal SOPs, and technical marketing materials. This individual will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product management, field services, and marketing to ensure technical content is clear, accurate, and aligned with customer and industry needs. Other priorities include continued development of our knowledge base, implementation of new authoring tools and bringing us to the forefront of technology in access, maintenance and sharing of our technical documentation to improve customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management
    • Manage and mentor a team of technical writers, editors, and content developers.
    • Define and enforce writing standards, templates, and workflows for consistency and scalability.
    • Allocate resources effectively to support business priorities and project timelines.
    • Shepard the team into the next age of digital platform content and sharing
  • Content Development
    • Author and review technical documentation for hardware, firmware, and software components of solar tracker systems, along with new product offerings in Nextracker’s portfolio.
    • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content for a variety of audiences (installers, engineers, operations staff, and customers).
    • Oversee the production of illustrations, diagrams, and multimedia to support documentation.
    • Enable translation program to support document translations into a multitude of languages for our global customers and teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with hardware and software engineering, field operations, QA, and training teams to gather accurate and up-to-date information.
    • Partner with product marketing to create customer-facing materials such as datasheets and solution briefs.
    • Ensure documentation supports regulatory compliance, safety standards, and warranty requirements.
  • Tools & Technology
    • Own and maintain the content management systems (CMS) and tools for authoring and publishing.
    • Drive innovation and change to bring technical documentation into a new digital era, to support scalability and efficiency
    • Implement version control and localization processes for global distribution.
    • Drive automation and digital delivery improvements (e.g., online help systems, mobile-accessible content, knowledge bases).
  • Quality Assurance & Feedback
    • Establish and track documentation quality metrics (completeness, readability, accessibility).
    • Collect feedback from end users and stakeholders to continuously improve content usability and accuracy.
    • Drive process and procedures to get a cadence around documentation refresh, updates and review boards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, English, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in technical writing, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience documenting complex electromechanical or industrial hardware systems, along with relationship of hardware to software.
  • Familiarity with solar tracker systems or renewable energy equipment is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Strong command of documentation tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, Confluence, XML/DITA, or equivalent.
  • Experience managing documentation projects with multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a fast-paced, growth-stage technology company.
  • Knowledge of CAD drawings, electrical schematics, and field deployment practices.
  • Multilingual documentation or localization experience.
  • PMP or Agile certification is a plus.

The annual salary range for this position is $160,000 to $175,000.
