The Assistant Director of the Patient Business Office reports to the Director of the Patient Business Office and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations. The Asst Director will partner with IT to design, implement and enhance systems that support the integration of new partners and drive continuous improvement in daily operations. The Asst. Director will also be responsible to work with the Director to optimize Revenue Cycle operations and ensure USA is compliant in all federal, state, and payer-specific regulations.
Support the director by helping oversee the daily operations of all PFS functions, including billing, follow-up and collections, and cash posting.; Oversee orientation and continuing education for all staff. Ensure mandatory and relevant training is provided to staff in a timely manner.; In conjunction with operations, reviews and enhances insurance verification, coding review, billing, collection, and payment posting processes for efficiency and best practices; ensure systems are fully functional and maximized and recommend new processes to improve current work flow.; Ensure staff is educated on new technology, goals, and contracts.; Utilizes all available resources to ensure effective performance of the department.; Supports managers to perform personnel functions for the department, i.e. Recruitment, hiring, disciplinary actions, evaluations, counseling, and education and follows hospital policies related to personnel functions.; Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, coaches and mentors leaders in the department. Assists the Director in developing an annual budget that meets the department needs within the framework of the available resources.; Assists in establishing and maintaining departmental policies and procedures. Communicate relevant information to other hospital departments. Establish controls and review mechanisms to ensure procedures are being followed correctly. Recommend policy changes to the Director.; Facilitates staff participation in in-services and educational offerings to learn new skills and for continued development.; Identify opportunities to enhance workflows and drive process improvements through technology solutions.; Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure operational efficiency.; Lead or support system testing, training, and adoption for staff.; Act as a liaison between operations, IT, and external partners to ensure seamless implementation of new initiatives.; Work with external business partners to ensure processes and education are aligned with USA Health.; Other Duties as assigned/required.; Accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict.; Cooperates, helps others, and improves the performance of the unit.; Completes all mandatory unit, educational and hospital requirements.; Utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job.; Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards.; Facilitates cooperative and collaborative relationships among disciplines/departments to assure effective delivery of services to support quality patient care.; Encourages and participates in planning and program development to facilitate the effective delivery of services that support quality patient care.; Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team in person and via all forms of communication.; Responds to direct requests timely via all forms of communication.; Assists Administration in answering inquiries pertaining to patient's billing.; Assists administrative staff with billing implications for new services.; Regular and prompt attendance; Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; Related duties as required.
Bachelor's degree and four years of professional experience in which two of the years were in a managerial capacity. Directly related managerial experience may substitute on a year for year basis for the required education.
