This is a Software Engineering III position at the Vice President level, which is part of the job family responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that support business needs.

Role Profile:

By joining the Commodities Technology team, you will have the unique opportunity to design and build a new risk and market data management system on the Firms next generation, cross-asset Risk Calculation Environment (RICE), a graph-based calculation platform with highly scalable pricing engines running on top of more than 5,000 Virtual Machines, running billion of computations every day. By joining the Commodities Technology team, you will be working in an energetic and motivated Agile squad, as well as part of a community of hundreds of developers contributing to one of the largest Scala codebases in the world.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Communicate regularly with product leads across the technology organization and discuss opportunities for improvement to existing and future technology solutions.


What you'll bring to the role:

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple functions or guide junior staff and initiatives.
  • Advanced understanding of business line and discipline with some knowledge of competitive environment and other disciplines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of Scala or strong experience with Java with desire to learn Scala
  • Good communication skills to work effectively in an agile team
  • Desire to learn and use different technologies to overcome complex problems in financial industry.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $210,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs
