Morgan Stanley Investment Management Technology (MS IMT) exclusively partners with the Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) business division to design and develop systems and integrate vendor products to globally support full life cycle business processing. Activities include Portfolio Analysis, Risk, Trading, Operations, and Sales & Marketing. Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) Technology also provides holistic support and quality assurance across the suite of applications used in the MSIM environment.

What you’ll do in the role:
Morgan Stanley Investment Management Technology in Boston offers a challenging opportunity to be part of a highly specialized IT team supporting Business Users from Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) Fixed Income and ESG teams. The Public Solutions team is a client focused IT team responsible for:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement technology solutions for the businesses.

  • Participate in the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.

  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements.

  • Provide technical expertise in Python, Shell Script, and SQL to design, develop, and maintain software applications.

  • Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process, tools, and techniques.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of the Sustainability, Fixed Income, and Equity businesses to ensure that technology solutions align with business goals.

  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends in the Sustainability / ESG and Fixed Income domains.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Strong communication skills needed to collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement technology solutions for Sustainability / ESG and Fixed Income businesses.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Must be team oriented and work well within a global team

  • Must be self-sufficient, be accountable and act like an owner of IT related issues handled by the team

  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes.

  • Solid experience working with relational databases

  • General understanding and ability to write scripts in Shell and Python

  • Batch job scheduling tools like Airflow, Glide, Autosys and CA Workload Automation

  • Ability to work in stressful situations

  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and care

Preferred skills:

  • Understanding of financial markets and various financial instruments with a focus on Fixed Income

  • Knowledge of the Sustainability / ESG is a plus.

  • Experience working on reporting tools like Power BI and Tableau

  • Exposure to Snowflake, Jupyter Notebook and Dataiku

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree 5+ years of financial services experience
