Morgan Stanley Wealth Management provides a range of wealth management products and services for affluent individuals, businesses, and institutions. These services include brokerage and investment advisory, financial and wealth planning, credit and lending, cash management, annuities and insurance, retirement and trust.

The Global Investment Office (GIO) is the investment and research hub within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, comprising more than 250 analysts, strategists, and planners dedicated to supporting financial advisors and their clients. Led by the Wealth Management CIO, GIO develops the firm’s investment strategy by integrating financial planning, asset allocation, and portfolio construction insights. Serving as an extension of an advisor’s practice, GIO provides the tools, research, and intellectual capital to help advisors deepen client engagement, enhance investment performance, scale their businesses, and drive growth across all client segments.

Overview of Role:

  • Perform fundamental research on individual stocks and industries to inform portfolio decisions
  • Manage assigned equity portfolios as PM, positioning the portfolio to generate positive risk adjusted returns
  • Implement risk management and performance tracking processes to support portfolio construction and attribution analysis
  • Publish written research to communicate market views, portfolio changes, and performance to Financial Advisors and clients
  • Provide ad hoc portfolio reviews, consistent with published views and MS & Co. Research, to help Financial Advisors manage client assets
  • Participate in client meetings and events to communicate broad macroeconomic outlook and related portfolio implementation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Top tier MBA strongly preferred.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in financial markets; of which 1-3 years in equity research and doing stock pitches
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Familiar with Factset, Bloomberg, and Barra risk models
  • Detail oriented
  • Intellectually curious
  • CFA holder or progress towards CFA, viewed favorably.
  • Series 7 & 63 preferred - or willingness to take upon hire. Candidate must be able to pass Series 86 & 87

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 175,000 and 265,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
