Role Overview 

The Finance Portfolio Strategy role is a senior execution and orchestration role, responsible for translating the Finance transformation agenda into structured plans, governed delivery, and measurable outcomes. 

This role focuses on portfolio coordination, prioritization support, delivery oversight, and transparency across Finance change initiatives. The Director ensures work across Agile Fleets, Tooling, Change, and delivery partners is aligned, sequenced appropriately, and progressing with discipline—while escalating risks, tradeoffs, and decisions to the leadership as needed. 

 
In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm's financial and capital resources. This is an VP level position within the position within our Portfolio & Change Management Job Family which manages strategic change management, process re-engineering, and establishment of control procedures for projects with a focus on milestone delivery across projects, managing risks and issues that impact program objectives and facilitating communication across related projects and impacted stakeholders to keep programs on track. 

 

 

What you will do in the role

The Director ensures work across Agile Fleets, Tooling, Change, and delivery partners is aligned, sequenced appropriately, and progressing with discipline—while escalating risks, tradeoffs, and decisions to the leadership as needed. 

 

  • Support management of the Finance Change & Transformation portfolio for each department in Finance. 

  • Translate highlevel strategic priorities into structured initiatives, sequencing, and delivery plans. 

  • Maintain a consolidated view of initiatives, dependencies, and capacity across themes and delivery teams. 

  • Provide daytoday oversight of delivery progress across Finance change initiatives. 

  • Track milestones, risks, interdependencies, and issues; proactively surface concerns and resolution options. 

  • Ensure initiatives are deliveryready, with clear scope, ownership, success measures, and change plans. 

  • Create decisionready materials for executive and Boardlevel forums. 

  • Distill portfolio implications, tradeoffs, and decisions required into clear narratives. 

 

What you will bring to the role 

  • 5+ years of experience in consulting, process optimization, transformation from a program management perspective. 

  • Strong understanding of Finance functional area, industry, and competitive. environment and technical skills, including risks and key regulations relevant to the division. 

  • Proven experience in executing multiple end-to-end process re-engineering initiatives. 

  • Demonstrated success leading programs that span multiple divisions and jurisdictions. 

  • Strong executive presence, communication and stakeholder management skills 

  • Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical delivery discipline 

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to build relationships with stakeholders across the organization. 

  • Strong business analysis and business process management skills. 

  • Strong foundation in Excel, PowerPoint, program management, and AI skills to assist with data analysis, managing programs, and building presentations for senior management. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Background in Finance or Finance related functions. 

  • Program management experience and or certifications.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $90,000 and $155,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
