Position Duties
Essential Functions
Develop CCSJ immersion learning experiences which include local, regional, and international immersive experiences from 1-15 days in length.
• Recruit, develop, and prepare student leaders and faculty/staff mentors to assume responsibility for immersion teams, recruit participants, and run orientation and training sessions. This includes marketing and social media, application and discernment.
• Meet regularly (biweekly) with student intern for planning and evaluation of progress toward goals.
• Communicate and coordinate with multiple domestic and international community partner sites.
• Create pathways of global and civic engagement through connecting relevant issues to advocacy and service in Baltimore (e.g., mountain top removal in Appalachia, coal piles in Curtis Bay, Baltimore).
• Ensure evaluation/assessment data is collected.
• Manage budgets for related activities.
• Coordinate social media and messaging establishing Immersion Program as expression of Society of Jesus Universal Apostolic Priorities and University Mission.
CCSJ Team cooperation, collaboration
• Participate in regular meetings to review student intern formation, progress, decide policies and coordinate programming.
• Participate in student intern selection, training, and evaluation.
• Participate in university committees as requested .
Collaborate with campus ministry to offer seamless welcome/entry into a constellation of immersion opportunities for students of different world views and experiences
• Develop marketing which emphasizes key shared mission values and expresses priorities and broad outcomes.
• Develop shared immersion student leadership formation.
• Develop a structure for faculty mentors to support, accompany, and assist in preparing students for immersion.
• In collaboration with Campus Ministry and faculty partners develop cohesive and comprehensive preparation curriculum; ensure programs include essential components of Ignatian Pedagogy and reflection, Catholic Social Teaching, social justice education, direct service, critical analysis and reflection, reentry and debrief process, vocational discernment (how do my gifts meet the needs of the world?).
• With curriculum form student facilitators and faculty peer mentors for Ignatian immersion.
• Build immersion experience cohorts and pathways for community building and shared reflection among cohorts in pre and post experience opportunities.
Oversee and manage Motor-pool arrangements for Loyola students engaged in service and service-learning.
• Recruit and facilitate community engaged students for Motor-pool training.
• Facilitate problem solving for motor-pool questions, student access, and policy violations.
• Liaise with Motor-pool to facilitate reservations.
• Keep updated records of the cohort of student drivers for CCSJ programs and service opportunities.
Immersion Travel
• Oversee international immersion travel and safety components according to policies and procedures of the University: national and international travel warnings, global medical insurance, and host program coordinators, participant conduct standards, safety training relevant to immersion sites, emergency protocol. risk management.
• Accompany immersion groups in preparation and travel as necessary and appropriate to program.
• Oversee all logistics including coordination of domestic and international travel arrangements, e.g., transportation, lodging, and accommodations.
• Ability to travel to local, regional and national locations as needed to support program operations
Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Education Required Bachelor's degreeEducation Preferred Master's degreeOther Professional Licensures Valid driver's license required. Current passport required or expected to obtain within 3 months of hire. Work Experience 3 - 5 yearsDescribe Required Experience Experience working or volunteering in community-based service, service-learning, social justice education and/or advocacy. Experience and demonstrated commitment in anti-racism and racial justice work. Experience working with students: training, mentoring, and spiritual/faith development. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of and ability to implement experiential learning experiences, reflection, training, and facilitation. Demonstrated commitment to work with people from diverse religious, racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Computer skills in Microsoft Office, web software and social media platforms. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop collaborative relationships within and between university and community partners. Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively on teams. Desire and ability to work effectively within the frame autonomously and collaboratively on teams. Desire and ability to work effectively within the framework of a Jesuit, Catholic, institution of higher education. C ommitment to communicating and to sharing the Jesuit, Catholic mission, ideals and values, especially as they relate to service, issues of justice and spirituality. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and holidays as required.
