Job Summary

MA/Surgery Scheduler schedules patients for surgery, tests, referrals, medical and cardiac clearance, pre-op tests and reviews meds and health history as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Scheduling patients for surgery, completing facility paperwork.

Scheduling patients for diagnostic tests (i.e bone scan, MRI, CT, EMG/NCS, ESI).

Reviewing patients meds and health history to determine pre-admission testing.

Scheduling appropriate medical and cardiac testing.

Coordinates with the facility all ancillary services related to the surgery at the discretion of the surgeon.

Scheduling patient for follow-up appointments.

Obtain authorizations as needed.

Education/Knowledge/Experience

Prefer one year of prior surgery scheduling experience and in a health care facility setting.

May be a Certified Medical Assistant

Knowledge in operating a computer and computer software (i.e: Microsoft office, EHR)

Knowledge of surgical procedures and medical terminology.
