Job Summary:
The Intervention Specialist at Kids Thrive Pediatric Mental Health plays a vital role in providing educational instruction and behavioral support to children in a therapeutic setting. The Intervention Specialist collaborates with mental health professionals and supports staff to create a structured, supportive, and engaging learning environment tailored to the needs of children facing behavioral and emotional challenges. 

Education:

  • Active Ohio intervention specialist license strongly preferred
  • Completion of resident educator program strongly preferred
  • Alternative license with strongly relevant experiences considered

Experience:

  • At least two years of classroom teaching experience with K-6 behavioral health populations
  • Experience maintaining compliant special education documentation, including administering assessments, reporting progress and providing input for IEPS, ETRs and any other requirements
  • Experience implementing positive behavior supports, trauma-informed care and related supports and interventions

Position Requirements:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with individualized education goals and therapeutic interventions.
  • Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects while integrating social-emotional learning strategies.
  • Adapt instructional methods to meet the diverse needs of students with behavioral and emotional challenges.
  • Collaborate with therapists, behavioral specialists, and other support staff to reinforce therapeutic strategies in the classroom.
  • Utilize positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) to manage classroom behavior effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and educational achievements.
  • Communicate regularly with families, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistency in interventions and academic support.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed.
  • Participate in professional development training related to trauma-informed care, behavioral health, and special education strategies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
