Purpose

This internship will work with the Discovery to Impact team to research and communicate about new technologies across the life sciences, physical sciences, or computer sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Experience: Gain direct experience in tech transfer, intellectual property, business development and working with start-ups. Valuable experience for researchers interested in developing their own technologies, working in consulting, entrepreneurship and biotechnology or tech industries. Our interns specifically start by helping to market technologies, the proceed to get valuable exposure to patenting and licensing processes.
  • Mentorship: Analysts work closely with the intellectual property and business development teams at Discovery to Impact.
  • Project-based work: includes prior-art searches to help inform IP strategy, market research to help identify commercial partners, and helping to write compelling summaries of technologies for marketing purposes. 
  • Network: Meet and work directly with companies and professors to help bring their technologies to market.

Required Qualifications 

  • Enrolled as a UT Austin graduate student in a science or engineering field, or McCombs graduate students with a science or engineering background.
  • Permission of UT Austin research adviser.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident (because Applicant selected must meet eligibility requirements for access to export-controlled information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position).

Salary Range

$21/hr + depending on qualifications
