Summary: Performs pre-analytical duties on specimens for Pathology, includes Histology and Cytology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Accessions specimens
• Specimen embedding
• Performs slide cover slipping and labeling as needed
• Manual routine and special staining
• Cleans and maintains instruments
• Assists pathologists with bone marrow procedures as necessary
• Specimen rotation/disposal
• Assists with inventory control
• Assists in accessioning, staining, and cover slipping specimens for Cytology when needed
• Other duties as required for departmental operation
• Promotes a clean and safe environment of care, utilizing the SAFE error prevention habits
• Provides the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in matters involving patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by the Standards of Conduct

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in a science related field preferred. Two years additional training in biology, medical terminology, and laboratory sciences preferred.

Work Shift Details:

Days, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with rotating Saturdays

The final pay rate offered may be more than the posted range based on several factors including but not limited to: licensure, certifications, work experience, education, knowledge, demonstrated abilities, internal equity, market data, and more.
