Desk Representatives (DRs) provide front desk services for student residents,

Campus Living staff, and the Lewis & Clark College campus community within the residence halls and apartments. Successful DRs are detai- and service oriented and possess the ability to understand and adhere to complex policies and procedures; accurately handle high volumes of phone calls and in person communication; correctly assign keys; and solve problems and communicate effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process move-ins, transfers, and move-outs by updating calendars, scheduling arrival times, preparing materials, assigning keys, and following up with online form responses.

  • Provide lock out keys for students needing access to their room; confirm resident room numbers, status as in-room, issue key, track and follow up for return.

  • Maintain accurate key records by conducting periodic audits and check-in and out keys between each use.

  • Train on the accurate use of Campus Living systems and materials, including Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, Canva, Housing Software, Key Inventory, Slack, and other office equipment including electronic and paper resources.

  • Provide courteous and professional customer service, directions, etc. to all residents and staff within the community.

  • Work in a team-oriented setting with other DSRs, student leads and the Administrative Coordinator.

  • Respond in a timely manner to requests for your semesterly and break period availability for scheduling purposes, as well as for weekly schedule changes.

  • Assist with managing a community Campus Living office mail and packages.

  • Review and respond to various Desk communication systems at the start of and during each shift.

  • Be knowledgeable about Campus Living personnel, Policies, and College resources to respond to questions.

  • Utilize departmental and college contact information, acting as a liaison between the resident and other appropriate offices.

  • Always represent Lewis & Clark College in a professional manner, including wearing a name badge and adhering to dress, appearance, and behavior expectations while on shift.

  • Abide by and uphold State, City, College and Campus Living rules and regulations.

  • Attend and participate in mandatory semesterly staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrolled as an undergraduate/graduate student at Lewis & Clark College

  • Previous experience in a customer service position.

  • Dependability and willingness to work a flexible schedule.

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively under pressure.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail; courteous and professional written and oral communication.

  • Ability to successfully interact with people from diverse age groups, backgrounds, and cultures.

EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS

  • Students in this position will gain valuable experience working in a fast-paced desk area, learning how to respond to several customer concerns, processing tasks quickly and efficiently or learning basic and advanced office administration.

HOURS:
 

  • 12pm-1pm: Mondays and Wednesdays
    12:30-4pm Thursdays
    Total: 5.5 hours per week with the opportunity to cover for other Desk Representatives shifts as needed. If the position is a good fit; more hours would be available starting in Fall 2026. 
    Applicants that can cover all of these hours will be prioritized. 

RATE OF PAY:

  • $16.30 per hour

      Eligibility to Work

Failure to have a completed I-9 form on file with the College will result in immediate termination of employment.
