JOB SUMMARY
The Phlebotomist greets and instructs our patients on sample collection procedures and performs blood and urine collection procedures utilizing standard collection methods. The individual must follow strict patient identification policies including verification of specimen labels applied to patient samples. The Phlebotomist has continuous patient contact and is the laboratory’s ambassadors to our patients and must follow applicable organizational policies.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred/Optional: Successful completion of a post-secondary medical terminology course.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: None
Preferred/Optional: One year phlebotomy experience with venipuncture and capillary puncture. Knowledge of medical terminology or exposure to a medical environment.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
Weston is both a hospital and clinic location. Phlebotomist would be responsible for drawing in both areas. Clinic shifts Monday- Friday 7 AM to 5 PM. Hospital is 24/7 365 days a year and would be responsible for drawing on the PM shift. Phlebotomist will be on a weekend and holiday rotation.
