We are looking for a dedicated and culinary-driven Cook to join the Royal Sonesta team. The ideal candidate is a master of their station—capable of handling both hot and cold entrées with precision and flair. We need a team player who brings infectious energy to the kitchen, maintains impeccable organization, and adapts easily to the dynamic nature of luxury hospitality.
Job Description
Special Qualifications, Education, or Licenses:
- Must be fully familiar with high-volume restaurant orders
- Must be able to use a knife, slicing machine, and grater.
- At least three to five years of experience in a comparable operation.
- Must possess a current and valid Food Handler's certificate
- Experience: Demonstrated experience working in a professional kitchen with proficiency in handling both hot and cold food preparations.
- Availability: Must be available for a Full-Time position and flexible schedule.
- Note: Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, candidates must be flexible to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Station Execution: Expertly prepare and cook menu items for both hot and cold stations (entrées, appetizers, salads, and sides), adhering strictly to recipe specs and plating guides.
- Mise en Place: Ensure all food items are prepared before service (chopping, portioning, marinating) and that the station is fully stocked.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect food items for freshness and quality before preparation and before serving to the guest.
- Safety Compliance: Monitor and record food temperatures to ensure safety standards are met. Maintain a sanitized workspace at all times.
- Team Support: Assist other cooks during peak times and help with receiving and storing inventory.
- Kitchen Organization and Cleanliness:
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of ingredients and food items.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Inventory Management:
- Assist with inventory checks and restocking as needed.
- Notify management of any shortages or issues with ingredients.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and quality service.
- Communicate effectively with servers and other team members to coordinate orders.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations within the kitchen.
- Report any kitchen equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to management.
